Adoptions From The Heart
Description: Adoption’s From The Heart is hosting its 2nd Annual Virtual 5K, on the weekend of April 23rd. The event will serve as a fundraiser and that money will support AFTH’s programs and services. Registration is $15 per adult and $5 per child under 10 years of age. All participants will get a medal and the chance to buy a t-shirt.

Description: The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. They will be educating about mental health in relation to genetics and trauma, as well as mental health in adults, infants, and toddlers. They will also be discussing mental health and COVID-19.

Quack Out Cholangio 5k Run/Walk to Crush Bile Duct Cancer
The second annual Quack Out Cholangio 5k Run/Walk to Crush Bile Duct Cancer will be held on Saturday, May 15th at Midnight Oil Brewing Company in Newark – raising money for Cholangiocarcinoma research. All participants will receive a t-shift, medal and bracelet. Those 21 and older will get a free post-race Midnight Oil beer. They’ll also have more than $1000 in raffle prizes, with all funds raising earmarked for research only. To comply with COVID regulations, organizers promise strict adherence to CDC guidelines including hand sanitizing, mask wearing until beginning of race, staggered starts and more! Description: Get a jumpstart into celebrating ‘Great Outdoors Month’ by joining a Ranger on National Trails Day to explore the forested areas of the park. This two-mile hike will let you view the native flora of the White Banks and Beaver Marsh Loop Trails. Dogs on a leash are encouraged to join us! Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County
Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County (HFHNCC) will be hosting four orientation sessions in April on their homeownership program. Habitat’s homeownership program is a partnership opportunity for families to invest in their future by building a simple, decent, and affordable home at 0% interest.

Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community
Registration for the 2021 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community Wilmington is now open. This year's walk will be an online-only virtual walk and fundraiser due to the COVID-19 pandemic - benefitting 33 local health and human service organizations. Participants can count steps anytime by walking on a treadmill, in a park or simply around their neighborhood. For more details, and to register, go to www.walkforahealthycommunity.org. Description: Ghosts in the Graveyard\r\nJoin Old Swedes Historic Site for an online tour of the 1638 Burial Ground and hear the stories of famous—and infamous—people buried on our grounds. Meet some of the many people who ‘reside’ here, from early Swedish settlers to notable Delaware suffragists. The 1638 Burial Ground is the final resting place of more than 8,000 and contains 1,200 gravestones of all shapes and sizes.
