Description: Chopped Jr.
Chopped Jr. is coming to the Greenwood Public Library on April 17 & 24 for a two-part cooking class and competition with Chef Charles! Kids ages 7 to 17 will learn how to cook starches, vegetables, basic sauces, and proteins in the first class. In the second class, kids will create a meal through competition. Their meal will be judged on appearance, flavor, and creativity. Each child will receive a gift bag at this class. Participants must be present for both classes. Description: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded by The Five Pearls: Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Myrtle Tyler, Viola Tyler, Pearl Anna Neal, and Fannie Pettie Watts. The Five Pearls envisioned a sorority that would directly affect positive change, chart a course of action for the 1920s and beyond, raise people’s consciousness, encourage the highest standards of scholastic achievement, and foster a greater sense of unity among its members.
The Pearlette Club, a youth auxiliary, is the feeder program for Baby Blue. Pearlettes are girls ages 4-8 who are mentored by ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated to become outstanding leaders in their community. The Baby Blue Pageant culminates with a luncheon held in odd years.
The pageant will be held on April 22, 2023 at 1pm, located at the Tilton Mansion in Wilmington, DE. Tickets are priced at $50.00 per person.

Delaware Libraries and Disasters Initiative

Description: “Ready or Not? The Power of Conversations in Preparing for Disasters” Please join us for a conversation about steps you and your family can take to be better prepared for emergencies and disasters. Presenters will familiarize participants with the individual and family emergency/communication plan, the important documents folder, the shelter-in-place kit, and the gobag - all important tools in preparedness and personal safety. Participants will walk through items to include in their shelter-in-place kit and go-bag and learn where items may be found or purchased.
Each participant will receive a free Go-Bag to take home and informational materials to support their health and safety, when planning for disasters and emergencies. One free “mini” shelter-in-place kit will be given away at the end of the session!
Facilitated by Pat Young, Chair of the Delaware Libraries and Disasters Initiative and Pat Heineman of the UD Center for Disability Studies.

As part of the events leading up to the National Day of Prayer on May 4th, 2023, the Interfaith Friendship Association and other local churches in the Berlin, MD area are holding a prayer walk and vigil for our schools on Tuesday May 2nd. Participating congregations and houses of worship are adopting a local school and will each be meeting at the flagpole of those schools. We will then march around the school grounds praying for the students, their families, all of the staff and administrators of the school, and the bus drivers associated with that school, etc. We will then meet back at the flagpole to finish prayers there. When done all of the various represented congregations will gather at Stephen Decatur Park to come together as one voice in prayer and fellowship. There will be refreshments and music at the Prayer/Praise gathering at Stephen Decatur Park for all. We cordially invite any and all to come out and join us as we pray for our schools, our children, and the greater Community.

KSI invites you to attend the 6th Annual Friends of KSI Car Show on Saturday, May 6th from 9 till 2 at KSI’s Skill Development Center, 301 N. Rehoboth Blvd., Milford. Enjoy a day of fun and cars while helping to raise funds for KSI’s programs and services.
Rain or shine, registration, $15 per car, will be from 8 till 11:00 and dash plaques will be given to the first 75 entries. Trophies will be awarded to the top 20 cars and Best of Show will be named at 1:00 p.m. Door prizes will be given and 50/50 tickets will be sold so you can take a chance to win some cash.
